Student Assistance & absence information

Mission Statement: Student Assistance educates students on how to self-advocate and effectively navigate university policies, procedures and processes. 

Student Assistance is a service provided through the Division of Student Affairs. Student Assistance navigates and supports students through many situations and challenges.  If a student has missed a minimum of  3 (three) class days due to an appropriate matter (illness, injury,  personal, or family emergency), a formal absence letter may be circulated to professors verifying the absence. Students are highly encouraged to contact their professors for academic guidance relating to missed work due to their absence.

To utilize this service, the student or family member completes the Request Instructor Notification for Absences Form and uploads supporting documentation directly relating to the absence. In some cases, if a student is unable to return to one or more of their classes, Student Assistance can discuss enrollment options. Students or family members may email StudentAssistance@wcupa.edu or call  610-436-0165 to discuss options.

CARE Support Services

CARE Support is additional service provided by members of  WCU's CARE Team.  If you are worried about a student, the most effective measure is to notify the CARE Team by completing the Concerning Incident or Behavior Form.

Christy Lanshe

Christy is a proud advocate for student success. She is a knowledgeable point of contact for individuals who request support though Student Assistance. She identifies and explains the benefits of additional campus services available to WCU students.  She also assists with enrollment options, including the withdrawal process.

Christy is approachable and easy to communicate with.  She has a calming manner when working with students and families who are experiencing challenges. She stays connected during their time of need and enjoys relationship building.  She is committed to helping students have have a positive college experience.
