Virtual and Remote Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in virtual or remote volunteering? Check out the directory below of local, state, and national organizations that you can support through virtual and/or remote modalities. The directory is updated weekly. If you are a community-based organization that would like to post a virtual/remote opportunity below, please email Dr. Seth Jacobson.

Are you a WCU student organization or leader interested in coordinating a remote or virtual service opportunity? We’re here to help! Email our Assistant Director, Shannon Gillespie for advice, guidance, and assistance. Some ideas that you may want to consider include:

  • Hosting a virtual fundraiser on behalf of a community organization
  • Collecting donations for a community organization (be sure ask about their needs and follow any health and safety guidelines they provide for packaging/dropping off items)
  • Taping, recording, or streaming performances or workshops to benefit community organizations
  • Exploring ways you can utilize Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime to replace in-person services (mentoring, visiting with seniors experiencing social isolation, etc.)
  • Creating virtual events and activities related to voter registration, education, and engagement ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election in November
  • Sign up for our RamServe Newsletter to remain up to date on opportunities as they arise

Blood Bank of Delmarva

The Blood Bank of Delmarva provides blood and blood products to 19 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula.  Giving blood can help save up to 20,000 lives per year.

RSVP Chester County 

RSVP improves the lives of vulnerable populations in the local community by focusing on education and wellness and by supporting nonprofits through skill-based volunteer programs.

Ways You Can Help

  • STEM Presenters:
    RSVP is looking for juniors and seniors majoring in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) to do a presentation for public schools students (via Zoom) about their career interests (e.g., what they are studying; why they chose their major; their college experience; and what they hope to do with their college degree).
  • Math Tutors:
    Virtually tutor students that need help with math. This opportunity requires volunteers to have or obtain their clearances.
  • Literacy Volunteer:
    Read books to students (K-4th grade), via Zoom. This opportunity requires volunteers to have or obtain their clearances.
  • Volunteer Executive Consultants:
    RSVP is looking for students (especially business majors) to support non-profit organization leaders in building their capacity. Students will be matched with small teams (2-4) of volunteer professionals and executives to address an organizational need identified by a local non-profit (e.g., developing a strategic plan; developing and/or implementing a marketing campaign.)

The Coalition Against Hunger’s Virtual Race Against Hunger

The Coalition Against Hunger’s programs connect people to emergency food, food assistance programs and educate the public and policymakers about responsible solutions to prevent hunger.

The WCU Foundation
