Hibernia Park Natural Resources Management Plan
Project Overview
Students worked with the Chester County Department of Parks and Open Space to develop a Natural Resources Management Plan for the 1,253-acre Hibernia County Park. While the park has been owned and operated by Chester County since 1963, this is Hibernia's first Natural Resources Management Plan to be developed.
Using ArcGIS, i-Tree software, and web applications, students documented and assessed the natural resource management needs of Hibernia County Park. Maps were created to support the ability of the staff to maintain the park, and to provide the public general information. In addition to a natural resource inventory of species, soils, and analysis of the impact of recreational activities, the plan includes methodologies to enhance community engagement, and address future considerations regarding climate change.
