Information Services and Technology
1. University Cyberinfrastructure
Provide a core Information Technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and facilities, that is secure, resilient and adaptable to meet the current and future needs of the WCU community.
- Cyberinfrastructure master plan (Deployment, maintenance and upgrades for Networks, Servers, Storage, Databases, Firewalls, Telecom)
- Teaching and learning spaces, including active and collaborative spaces
- Unified communications and collaboration tools (O365, Zoom, mobile applications, voice and video systems)
- Personal computing equipment (Desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, etc.)
- Collaboration with academic units on High Performance Computing capabilities supporting scholarship/research
2. Digital Learning
Support and enhance the teaching and learning process for the WCU community of educators through innovative digital strategies and practices.
- Enhance delivery of online and blended courses. Leverage Quality Matters, a peer review program that provides standardization and helps programs to become more competitive.
- Provide instructional design and course development (UDL and course accessibility, learning environments, pedagogical model, personalized learning).
- Recommend, deploy and maintain Educational Technologies (Tools both physical hardware and software. Learning ecosystem.)
- Promote and support Open Education Resources (E-textbook initiative, Library Digital Commons)
- Promote and support Learning Analytics (Digital Assessments)
3. Digital Transformation of University Business
Support and enhance University operations through efficient and effective online tools and processes.
- Partner to promote business processes that are sustainable, integrated and streamlined
- Provide IT support for Strategic Enrollment Management
- Provide IT support for the university’s brand and marketability
- Support data driven decision making through analytics
- Encourage IT professional development, innovation, and research
4. Governance and Stewardship
Provide responsible management of Information Technology resources and protection of University data.
- Management and protection of physical and digital IT assets. (This includes responsible and effective financial management)
- Secure sensitive data (backups, encryption, antivirus, VPNs, etc.)
- Leverage technology to support accessibility and inclusion
- Partner with campus offices on data-related regulatory compliance: FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, PCI, SARA, and more
- Deploy technology approaches to controlled access to restricted data (includes Identity and Access Management)
- Lead Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans and exercises
- Create and maintain Governance, Policy, and Advisory structures
5. Support and Training
Provide thorough, high-quality, technical support and training opportunities to benefit all members of the university community.
- Proactive communications - Develop comprehensive communication plans to keep the university community informed of IS&T initiatives (Security Alerts, Change Management, Events, Organizational changes, Strategic plans)
- Provide Help Desks / Service Desks - Demonstrate responsiveness to understanding user needs and delivering streamlined support (incl user experience testing, workflow redesign & self-service, in-depth Service Catalogs, and knowledge base)
- Provide Technology Training
- Provide Tech Support for Campus Events
- Sponsor and run IT Conferences on campus
- Provide structured support through Project and Relationship Management
