Initializing or Changing Your Password
A student's West Chester University Account serves 4 main purposes:
- Access to the student administration system (myWCU), which is used to access student information, grading and class scheduling
- Access to WCU E-Mail (Webmail)
- Access to D2L, which is used by instructors to post course materials, hold online discussions, tests, quizzes, and surveys
- Access to log onto the University network
Initializing your Password
Before a new student can use their WCU account for any of the services listed above, they must first initialize their password.
Go to the Change Password page to initialize your password.
- Your Username is the 1st letter of your first name and the 1st letter of your last name, followed
by your WCU ID number:
- If your WCU ID begins with a one, use the entire number. Example: 1234567 would use BE1234567@wcupa.edu
- If your WCU ID begins with a zero, always drop the leading 0. Example: 0123456 would use BE123456@wcupa.edu
- Enter your "Old Password" as WCU-MMDDYY. Be sure to capitalize the WCU and recognize that the MMDDYY is a representation of your date of birth. Example: January 1st 1984 = WCU-010184.
- Enter a New Password that is at least 12 characters in length. Note: your password cannot contain any part of your name.
- Your password does not expire.
- D2L and MyWCU access will be available immediately. Email access will not be available for 15 minutes after you change your password.
Still Need Help?
- Go to the Password Reset Tool. Choose Reset Forgotten Password. Follow the examples shown above each box to correctly type in your full email address,
date of birth, and the last 4 numbers of your social security number. Then, you can
choose a new password (the requirements for the password will be listed on the screen).
- If you do not have your social security number or date of birth in the system, you will need to contact the IS&T Help Desk using the information below.
- D2L and MyWCU access will be available immediately. Email access will not be available for 15 minutes after you change your password.
