How to Initialize Your RAmNET ID Network account

Congrats, new Golden Ram!  After you’ve been accepted to West Chester University and after you pay the enrollment deposit, you’ll be able to set-up your West Chester University RamNet ID Network Account. Your RamNet ID Network Account provides you access to WCU email, myWCU/RamPortal, and more.

  1. Visit the West Chester University User Account Self Service page:

2. Click on Initialize New Password under the New Student? headline

If You Joined WCU Before 9/28/2024

  1. Enter your Username:
    • Your username is the 1st letter of your first name and the 1st letter of your last name, followed by your 6 digit WCU ID number, always dropping the leading 0)
    • Example: BE123456@wcupa.edu

  2. Enter your Old Password as WCU-MMDDYY
    • Be sure to capitalize the WCU and recognize that the MMDDYY is a representation of your date of birth
    • Example: March 4, 2023 = WCU-030403

  3. Enter a New Password
    1. At least 12 characters long
    2. Different from your previous 24 passwords
    3. Does not contain any part of your name

  4. Click Update Password
    • D2L and RamPortal access will be available immediately. Email access will be available 30 minutes after you create your password.

If You Joined WCU On or After 9/28/2024

  1. Enter your Username:
  2. Enter your Old Password as WCU-MMDDYYYY
    • Your “old password" is a temporary password provided to you by WCU
    • Be sure to capitalize the WCU and recognize that the MMDDYYYY is a representation of your date of birth
    • Example: March 4, 2023 = WCU-03042003

  3. Enter a New Password
    • At least 12 characters long
    • Different from your previous 24 passwords
    • Does not contain any part of your name

  4. Click Update Password
    • D2L and RamPortal access will be available immediately. Email access will be available 30 minutes after you create your password.

What is a West Chester University account?

A RamNet ID Network Account grants access to campus-supported tools and technologies such as:

myWCU/RamPortal

During the spring and summer 2024, the student portal myWCU will transition to a new student portal, RamPortal.  During the transition, both portals may be accessed.  In myWCU/RamPortal you may view student information, financial aid information, billing, on-campus housing info, grading, and class scheduling.

D2L

D2L, our campus learning management system, which is used by instructors to post course materials, hold online discussions, tests, quizzes, and surveys
Logging onto the university network.

RamNet

WCU’s wifi network (available on campus).
