Overview & Guidelines

To maintain and build upon an inclusive campus climate that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion requires the active participation of everyone on campus. The Institute provides a valuable personal and professional development experience that is designed to address the range of individual behaviors and UniversityCapstone Project policies that can impact our campus climate and potential for success. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills that enable them to more effectively and enjoyably work and lead in a multicultural, diverse environment through workshops that are focused on awareness, discussion, and collaborative learning activities.

  • In an effort to enrich the personal experiences and interpersonal interactions of each participant, the Institute facilitates a competitive enrollment process where a limited number of applicants will be selected each year. Not all applicants will be guaranteed enrollment in the program cohort.
  • Each participant must commit to register, obtain the appropriate release time for each workshop/activity, and complete all Institute requirements.
  • Institute workshops are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Participants can take these workshops in any order.
  • ‚ÄúParticipants who may have completed D&I workshops during the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters, may be able to receive credit toward the Institute requirements upon confirmation of attendance
  • All participants are expected to complete the Institute d2lrequirements, including a capstone project, proposal, or presentation, within 18 months of enrollment.
  • All participants are responsible for tracking and reporting their progress within D2L.
  • A key component of the Institute is the capstone project, proposal, or presentation which allows all participants to translate what they are learning in the program into their working and learning environments on campus and beyond.
