Director's Biography
An associate professor of English at West Chester University, Eleanor Shevlin teaches courses in British literature and culture of the long 18th century, postcolonial fiction, and the history of manuscript, print, and digital cultures. She is the editor of volume 3 (1700-1800), History of the Book in the West (Ashgate, March 2010) and a co-editor of Agent of Change: Print Culture Studies after Elizabeth L. Eisenstein(with Sabrina Baron and Eric Lindquist, University of MA Press, 2007). The recipient of a 2005-2006 Kluge Fellowship at the Library of Congress, she has received grants from the Bibliographical Society of America, Bibliographical Society (Great Britain), and NEH Summer Stipend. A member of the Society of the History of Authorship, Reading & Publishing since 1993, Eleanor currently serves as its membership secretary. She is co-author of the blog, Early Modern Online Bibliography and has attended University of Virginia’s Rare Book School and the Center for Electronic Texts in Humanities at Princeton University.
