The University is located in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a beautiful suburb of Philadelphia.
This location is an intersection for the natural beauty of Chester County, the small-town
vibe of West Chester, and the bustling urban life offered by center city Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia metropolitan area offers a wide variety of medical opportunities
and experiences, from free clinics to major university hospitals.
Our approach:
The West Chester PA Program strives to create excellent clinicians as well as compassionate
human beings.
Strong scientific foundation courses support the clinically oriented coursework.
Students will have clinical experiences integrated into the didactic year in the immersive
learning center and in the community to allow the application of their knowledge.
In addition to the required rotations in Family Medicine, Women’s Health and Prenatal
Care, Pediatrics, Surgery, Inpatient Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Behavioral
Health, we offer an Elective rotation for students to explore another area of medicine
that they might be interested in pursuing.
Our faculty:
Despite being a new program, the faculty are experienced educators with more than 60 years of experience in academics and more than 100 years of clinical experience.
Our student to faculty ratio is approximately 11:1 which allows for individualized
attention for each student.
All faculty continue to practice clinically in areas such as family medicine, internal
medicine, orthopedics, Surgical critical care, and emergency medicine.
Faculty strive to maintain an open-door policy for students to seek out additional
information, to offer help with difficult concepts, or help to support students through
the stresses of PA education.
Our facilities:
The program will be initially located at the Exton location, 15 minutes away from
West Chester. This space offers classrooms, physical diagnosis laboratory space, examination
rooms, and small group breakout rooms.
Students have access to a full-dissection cadaver lab for anatomy.
The Program has several Anatomage tables and medical simulators that students can
use to supplement learning.
Students will work in the brand new Immersive Learning Center to practice and refine
their clinical skills.
Our relationships:
The PA Program is housed in the College of Health Sciences which allows for interprofessional
experiences with students in many other health fields such as nutrition, athletic
training, nursing, public health, and speech-language pathology.
We have built relationships with many local physician offices and clinics, teaching
hospitals, and community hospitals in the Philadelphia region.
Students will have the opportunity to rotate in rural, suburban, and urban areas with
experienced and knowledgeable preceptors.
Students in the college have been very involved with philanthropic pursuits with local
charities and medical clinics.
