Computer Labs/Facilities
Laboratory Classrooms
The Computer Science Departments maintains two state-of-the-art computer laboratories for exclusive use of students in our degree programs:
- UNA 141, 25 machines (Windows)
- UNA 147, 21 machines (MacOS)
Access to these laboratories is facilitated using your RamNetID card. See our Administrative Assistant, Ms. Jasmine Worrell, to troubleshoot any WCU card access issues.
The West Chester University Information Services Divisions maintains other laboratory classrooms across campus, which all students are free to use. Students may use laboratory classroom space whenever a class is not in session.
Department Servers
Dr. Si Chen serves as our CS Department Computing Coordinator and maintains the following Linux servers:
- Sulu: A general-purpose server available for both student and faculty use. Equipped with 32 virtual 2.4GHz Intel CPUs, 32GB of RAM, Sulu is ideal for a wide range of academic tasks.
- Molly: A dedicated server for AI and machine learning courses and projects, equipped with dual powerful NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPUs, optimized for high-performance AI workloads.
- Roadrunner: A server dedicated to students enrolled in web design courses.
- Codingcomp: Specifically set up for coding competitions and hackathons, Codingcomp provides a competitive environment with adequate computing resources.
- Worf: Tailored for cybersecurity-related courses and projects, Worf offers a secure environment for learning and research in cybersecurity.
- Bones: Serving as the primary server for faculty course websites and lab materials.
- Taz: A specialized server dedicated to faculty research and advanced projects.
- Spock: Designed for advanced computations and data analysis,.
- Coyote: A server dedicated to student projects (CSC 490) and research. Coyote features 4 virtual 2.4GHz Intel CPUs, 64GB of RAM. It provides a powerful environment for student-driven research initiatives.
- Picard: Another server supporting student projects (CSC 490) and research, Picard is equipped with 16 virtual 2.4GHz Intel CPUs, 32GB of RAM, and a 200GB OS disk. It runs on Ubuntu and is geared towards projects requiring significant computational resources.
- Files: The central file storage server with a 24TB capacity. It serves as the primary data repository for the department.
All CS students have access to the Molly, Sulu and Roadrunner servers, ensuring they have the resources necessary for their academic work. Please read access instructions. For access to other servers, please consult with your faculty advisor or contact Dr. Chen.

Server Features
- Daily backups at 9:00 PM EST with a 14-day retention policy
- 10GB default disk space for each user's home directory
- Enhanced security measures, including non-standard SSH port (54322) and DUO Multi-Factor Authentication
Non-CSC Faculty

Dr. Chen serves is the primary liaison for our departmental compute. Other WCU faculty are welcome to request access, compute time, and storage. Please reach out to Dr. Chen for more information.
WCU RamCloud
RamCloud is a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) that allows West Chester University students, faculty, and staff, to access certain WCU licensed software applications, from any device (Mac, PC, or mobile) anywhere, at any time. CSC Common Room, 25 University Ave. Rm 139
The Computer Science Department has a departmental common room, non-classroom area for faculty/student collaboration and research, conversations, studying, tutoring and BYOD usage. It also features a refrigerator and coffee area for students to use in between classes. Additionally, many of the student organizations within the CSC umbrella utilize the space for their club meetings.
