Sartomer Environmental Award

Awarded to a sophomore or junior student currently majoring in chemistry and who has fulfilled the necessary pre-requisites. Consideration will be given to students who are taking or who have completed the course in environmental chemistry. Students must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA and 3.2 GPA in science courses.

Teacher with a Mission Scholarship

Will provide financial support to an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate Education student pursuing a career in teaching in an urban setting or in the field of environmental education with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

John W. Ward Complementary Majors Scholarship

The John W. Ward Complementary Majors Scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualified WCU student who is pursuing a dual or double major.  The successful candidate will have a major in one of the following disciplines: history, literature(s) offered by the English department, music, psychology, philosophy, political science, and a second major in one of the following disciplines: mathematics, computer science, or one of the natural sciences including these current and potential future majors of astronomy, biology, biomedical engineering, botany, chemistry, physics, pre-med, or zoology.

Candidates will present (a) a dual or double major in the aforementioned fields. (b) a minimum of 3.2 GPA (c) faculty recommendations from the appropriate department(s).  Each candidate will be required to provide a quality essay of 700-1500 words outlining the rationale for the choice of majors.  The essay must be specific to the topic provided.  General essays will not be considered. 

Mustalish Award for Conservation

Open to West Chester University upper-division or graduate students in good academic standing with a passion for conservation.  Applicants may request funds for education, research, art, performance, teaching, community volunteerism, presentations, and the like, relating to conservation work throughout the world with a focus on climate change, species loss, and protecting and preserving the Traditional Ecosystem Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples.

Bonnie Claire Bruno Scholarship

Will support an incoming freshman with a major in the College of Sciences and Mathematics. Candidates must be a female Pennsylvania resident, with demonstrated financial need.

Communications Studies Alumni Chapter Scholarship

Awarded to a Communications major who has completed 90 credits, has an overall GPA of 2.8, and displays leadership on campus or through the community.

The Mele Family Scholarship

Awarded to a promising undergraduate student in WCU's School of Business.

Ruth Reed Leadership Scholarship

The Ruth Reed Scholarship Leadership Scholarship is based on GPA and leadership contributions to West Chester University. Students with a 3.5 GPA or higher, have completed 30 credit hours and are currently declared as a Health major (Respiratory Care, Public Health, Health Sciences General and Environmental Health) are eligible to apply. Students must write 800 words or less on how they have contributed to leadership on campus in the areas of diversity, research and/or service to the WCU community.

The Reverend Anderson Porter Scholarship

Awarded to an African American student with a minimum 2.5 GPA who demonstrates financial need.  Applicants must complete the Reverend Anderson Porter scholarship essay which should address the student's experience with social justice/civil rights issues or personal religious faith.

APSCUF (Faculty Union) Scholarships

West Chester University’s Chapter of Association of Pennsylvania State College & University Faculty and Coaches (APSCUF) is pleased to sponsor the following scholarships:

Brower Youth Environmental

Earth Island Institute established the Brower Youth Awards for Environmental Leadership in 2000 to honor renowned environmental advocate David Brower, who said, “I love to see what young people can do, before someone old tells them it’s impossible.” It is with this spirit that we recognize the outstanding leadership efforts of young people who are working for the protection of our shared planet. AMOUNT: $3,000

Compost Research & Education Foundation (CREF)

Available to undergraduate through PhD students, studying at a college or university in the US, interested in doing a compost-related research project. The scholarship is for $4,000, and also includes an invitation to present research findings at a US Composting Council Annual Conference during a CREF research session. The goal of this scholarship is to bring assistance to students doing compost-related research and to spark interest in future careers in the composting industry.

ExtremeTerrain’s Student Scholarships

Are you a high school senior or college student pursuing a degree in biology, environmental studies, land use, earth and atmospheric studies, parks and recreation, or a related subject? If so, you might consider applying to ExtremeTerrain’s Student Scholarships! Each application cycle, the scholarship awards $2,500 to two lucky applicants. In order to apply, students must submit a 700 – 1,500 essay on the importance of “maintaining access to public lands for recreational use” and how they plan on using their degree to advocate for the recreational use of public lands. The David E. Lumley Young Scientist Scholarship for Energy and Environmental Science is for high school and undergraduate students with an interest in environmental science and energy. Its purpose is to inspire today’s young minds to work on problems of global importance in both the energy and environmental sectors of industry and academia. AMOUNT: $500

Castle Ink Paperless Scholarship

To promote awareness about the importance of recycling, the Castle Ink Paperless Scholarship is open to all U.S. high school graduates who are accepted to begin college or are currently enrolled in any accredited institution. To be considered for the $1,000 scholarship, candidates must submit a picture of something cool that they made out of recycled used printer ink cartridges, printers, or laser toners via YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook with the hashtag #CastleInk. National Environmental Health Association Scholarships

In order to encourage commitment to a career in environmental health, the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) grants annual scholarships to undergraduate students who are enrolled in an environmental health program at a four-year institution that has gained accreditation from the Environmental Health Accreditation Council (EHAC). For consideration, all applicants must submit an official copy of an academic transcript, two faculty letters of recommendation, and one reference letter from an active NEHA member. AMOUNT: Unknown
